BRAINY

BRAINY
A man is known by the company he keeps ● A woman is like a tea bag. You can't tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water. * A brain is like a muscle, a serial connection that you should train everyday; "if you don't use it, you loose it. * Promiscuity is like never reading past the first page. Monogamy is like reading the same book over and over. A room without books is like a body without a soul.

Always do your best. What you plant now, you will harvest later. * Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

As for me, all I know is (that) I know nothing. Socrates

As kids we're not taught to deal with success; we're taught to deal with failure. If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. If at first you succeed, then what?

By and large, language is a tool for concealing the truth. ●  By and large, I've been healthy all my life. ● By and large women can bear pain better than men. (On the whole) ● I really don't have that many run-ins. People by and large are very nice to me. (A run-in is an argument or quarrel with someone)

Be yourself; everyone else is already taken. * Be able to be alone. Lose not the advantage of solitude. * Be sure what you want and be sure about yourself. * Fashion is not just beauty, it's about good attitude. * Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.

Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaninful.

Come to think of it, Pasadena's as good a place to die as any. ● I used to get so jealous if my wife liked another band more than my own. Come to think of it, I still do.

Difficulties are just things to overcome, after all. ● After all, didn't I blow a magnificient career? (Emphasis on "after", anyway) ● I'm still me, even after all that's happened.

Do what you love and do it often.

Do right. Do your best. Treat others as you want to be treated.

Don't ask what your country can do for you. Ask instead what you can do for your country.*
Ask not what you can do for your country. Ask what's for lunch.

Don't let your ego get too close to your position, so that if your position gets shot down, your ego doesn't go with it. * Don't write so that you can be understood, write so that you can't be misunderstood * The reason one writes poems is so that your poem will be remembered.

(Do you) Know what's weird? Day by day nothing seems to change. But pretty soon, everything's different.

Even if you're ill, physical activity at a lower level will help you beat it.

Even though I pretty much made my own decisions early on, when I was younger I tended to overbook my life.

Experimenting with different sounds is great, but when it comes down to it, you're still playing a guitar.

Fears are nothing more than a state of mind.

First and foremost, I'm a feminist. And basically that stems from a strong belief that all people and creatures deserve equal opportunity, rights and respect. ● Perfectionists demand perfection from themselves first and foremost ... ● First and foremost I am a drummer. After that, I'm other things... But I didn't play drums to make money.

If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion. * If you want something go get it. Period.* If it's a good song, it doesn't really matter if it's trendy or not. It will hit.

If you want a thing done well, do it yourself. * If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals. *  If you want success, be unique. * If you want to be happy, be. * If you want to get along (make progress), go along (compromise, put up with, tolerate. * If you want to get laid, go to college. If you want an education, go to the library.

I'm a homebody, really, when it comes down to it.

I'm not the type/sort of person/guy who/to give(s) up just because something gets rough. That's a coward. That's not me.

I'd rather annoy with the truth than please with adulation.* I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I am not * I'd rather try and fail than not try at all, (as they say) * I'd rather control someone than be controlled. * I'd rather regret doing something than not doing something. (I'd rather regret something I did, than regret, something I didn't). * I'd rather be good than lucky * I'd rather work than not (I hope/think/expect not ...) * I'd rather go naked than wear fur. * If I couldn't laugh, I'd rather die. * People, by and large, would rather be talking than listening.

I've learned it's not about being famous and big money. L.A. can be a fun place, but when it comes down to it - and this might sound hokey - there's no place like home.
I didn`t grow up in the typical happy American home, but music was always a safe and wonderful place for me to go.

I enjoy the burger joint the same way I enjoy fancy meals. * Italian food is all about ingredients and it's not fussy and it's not fancy. * I don't fancy myself as a very sarcastic person in real life. * I don't fancy myself a political commentator. I hate politics. I hate it. * I'm quite confident, but I don't fancy myself. I don't really care about how I look. * I have moved to a smaller house in Paris, and I don't fancy having so much staff now. * If you don't fancy diving under the water, why not try an activity on the wáter?
I find it difficult to watch myself... I find it boring. * I find it very difficult to relax.
I find it tricky to make plans. *  I find it odd that people take me seriously.
I find it too terrifying to go out in L.A. * I find it scary to sing - scarier than acting actually.
In terms of (about) defending Jews, I'm a Jew. * I don't think in terms of projects / God.
I don't really think in terms of (about) goals. * I don't even think in terms of ambition.
Oh, I find it very easy to fall in love. * I find it's impossible for me to read Proust.
I find it easier to work when it's quiet. * I love looking after animals. I find it very enjoyable.
I find it hard to say no to people. * I find it so funny that people find me so interesting.
I also quite like to be recognized by children; I find it sweet. *  I find it weird that people want to know about you. * I don't listen to music when I write - I find it distracting.
Stand-up, I find it really difficult. It's not really my thing.
I have a husband, and babysitters; I find it hard. I find it amazing how single moms do it.
I thank God for my failures. Maybe not at the time but after some reflection. I never feel like a failure just because something I tried has failed.

In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure. * We all have dreams. But in order to make dreams come into reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline, and effort.

It doesn't really matter if this movie's a success or not, because it's already out there.

It goes without saying that children should not be given knives to play with.* It goes without saying that you will improve your skills with practice.

Hume on Self-Interest'Tis not contrary to reason to prefer the destruction of the whole world to the scratching of my finger. (David Hume, A Treatise of Human Nature, 1739)

Just because nobody complains doesn't mean all parachutes are perfect. * Just because your ratings are bigger doesn't mean you're better. * Just because it's in print doesn't mean it's the góspel  * Just because something didn't work out your way, or somebody disappointed you, that does not change who you are. * The better voice doesn't mean being a better Singer. * Independence doesn't mean you decide the way you want.

Life is hard. After all, it kills you. (Emphasis on "all": remember ...) * Difficulties are just things to overcome, after all.

Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.

Love is the most important thing in the world, but baseball is pretty good, too.

Man is jealous because of his amour propre ( self-esteem, ego, narcissism,, vanity); woman is jealous because of her lack of it.

One thing about being a celebrity that I learned a long time ago was that I pretty much gave up the right to fair treatment.

People take different roads seeking fulfillment and happiness. Just because they're not on your road doesn't mean they've gotten lost.

Saying 'I notice you're a nerd' is like saying, 'Hey, I notice that you'd rather be intelligent than be stupid, that you'd rather be thoughtful than be vapid, that you believe that there are things that matter more than the arrest record of Lindsay Lohan. Why is that?' In fact, it seems to me that most contemporary insults are pretty lame. Even 'lame' is kind of lame. Saying 'You're lame' is like saying 'You walk with a limp.' Yeah, whatever, so does 50 Cent, and he's done all right for himself.”

So I'm ugly. So what? I never saw anyone hit a ball with his face. Joe Dimagio.
Sometimes a concept is baffling not because it is profound but because it is wrong.
Sometimes it's the journey that teaches you a lot about your destination. * Sometimes it's the smallest decisions that can change your life forever.
Try not to become a man of success, but rather a man of value. * Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.

Think about it: Heart disease and diabetes are completely preventable by making comprehensive lifestyle changes. * Sometimes by losing a battle you find a new way to win the war. A woman laughing is a woman conquered.” – Napoleon Bonaparte

The more haste, the less speed. * The more laws, the more offenders. * The more you like yourself, the less you are like anyone else, which makes you unique. * The more you read, the more things you will know. * The more that you learn, the more places you'll go. * The more I think about it, the more I realize there is nothing more artistic than to love others. (V. Van Gogh)

The problem with having a sense of humor is often that people you use it on aren't always in the mood. * I think often sadness is a great place to get songs from. * Start every day off with a smile and get it over with.

There's only a handful of people I trust completely, and I know who they are. Other than that, I pretty much don't trust people.

Thinking will not overcome fear but action will  * 'Adapt and overcome' is my new motto.

The most difficult thing in life is to know yourself. * The shortest way to do many things is to do only one thing at once. * 'No' is the second shortest word in the English language, but one of the hardest to say.* The oldest, shortest words - 'yes' and 'no' - are those which require the most thought.* Laughter is the shortest distance between two people. * Great geniuses have the shortest biographies.

To accomplish great things we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.

To be angry is human, but rarely, fair. You may only be angry with the right person, to the right degree, at the right time, for the right purpose, and in the right way.

True love doesn't happen right away; it's an ever-growing process. It develops after you've gone through many ups and downs, when you've suffered together, cried together, laughed together.

Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not.

What if everything is an illusion and nothing exists? In that case, I overpaid for my carpet.

We love life, not because we are used to living but because we are used to loving.Nietzsche

When I model I pretty much go blank. You can't think too much or it doesn't work.
When it comes down to competition, it's not always about the best skater, it's about who skates the best in that competition. * When it comes down to the music, it's just you and the microphone.* When it comes down to it, I'm kind of a nerdy actor. * When it comes down to it, I just want to work.

Without music, life would be a mistake.

We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned, so as to have the live that is waiting for us.

You can ignore politics no matter how much you'd like to.

(Do) You know what it's like having five kids? Imagine you're drowning and someone hands you a baby. I have no words to describe what it's like when you're attacked racially. You don't know what it's like (to be) out there. You may think you do, but you don't.

You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.
